Marketing & PR

As an original founder of the TUWC I heard about the possibility of development on Turkey Mountain and needed to know more. Having attended meetings previously on other abandoned plans for amusement parks I wanted to see if we could possibly organize better and not have to face the same questions again in a few years’ time.

Why the TUWC is important to you

Access to outdoor recreation is important for the physical and mental well-being of all people. Urban wilderness The TUWC has been a labor of love for me. Tulsa’s wilderness escapes have been a refuge for me during low points. They have provided healing when life was too hectic. There is absolutely no barrier to entry. No judgment. No must-have gear. If you only wish to step in feet from the parking lot and listen and relax you can. If you want to go further and push yourself you can. I have found the best people on the trails. The time they spend giving back to the trail systems refill me. Anyone can give back with time or money both are needed equally.

Do you have any heroes?

For me it’s not a person, it’s characteristics. People who have taken steps to preserve spaces for future generations. People who have not been afraid to do the unpopular thing because they know it to be the right thing. People who aren’t afraid to dream big and act on those dreams.

What inspires you?

Anytime I see people acting for a bigger purpose. No matter if that is for the community, for animals, or for the future. Anytime I see people look past “I” and see what is possible for the bigger picture I am given hope.
