The trails at Turkey Mountain have been an important part of my life since the late 1980’s. I have always advocated for the space and brought many friends through the years to understand and cherish the urban wilderness. When threat of mall development became our reality, we took action and formed the TUWC.

Cleo Berninger

Why the TUWC is important to you

Prior to formation of the TUWC, it was virtually impossible to work on behalf of Tulsa’s unbuilt environment–the urban wilderness. Volunteers for trail work, awareness raising, education, collective reach and advocacy along with connections, ALL now is possible through the TUWC.

Do you have any heroes?

Dalai Lama, Gandhi and Ruth Bader Ginsburg

What inspires you?

Above all: kindness to one another. There’s also reaching beyond oneself for a greater good and being connected to our gorgeous, living environment.
