Tulsa Urban Wilderness Coalition claims outlet mall could harm Turkey Mtn. wildlife, pollute water

The Tulsa Urban Coalition presented the petition Tuesday. Many comments and concerns were expressed; the main concern being tax money spent on the creation of the TIF district. Another large concern is the potential added traffic on the nearby narrow road.

“It’s not that we’re against an outlet mall. We just don’t want it in one of the most beautiful places right in the middle of the city,” Sprague said. “It’s like go somewhere else–go out east or go down south, just somewhere that is not a place that people love to use.”

He worries the outlet mall could bring in an increased amount of traffic to an area that he describes as a tranquil escape. He said he’s not against new developments or progress in town, but he hopes city leaders reconsider the location of this project.
